John is a digital filmmaker and animator. His work centres around using time-based media to expose stories about the production and future of material worlds.

He currently works with Prof Penelope Haralambidou exploring how Christine de Pizan’s proto-feminist manuscript, 'The Book of the City of Ladies' (first published in 1405), can offer new insights into the role of the female imagination in creating the contemporary and future city. He also works as part of the Bartlett's exhibitions team, and has helped deliver the school’s first exclusively online student shows.

He is a co-founder of Soft Bodies, with Paula Strunden and David Flook; a speculative design group which imagines how virtual environments may re-configure the relationship between our bodies, objects and surroundings. In particular, Soft Bodies has addressed the future of work through a series of mixed-reality installations.

He frequently collaborates with architectural designer, David Flook, to explore the implications of digital materiality by producing short fashion films.

Finally, he often works closely with sound designer and composer, Kevin Pollard, to ensure audio enters a project as an integral dimension, rather than a late addition.
